codes and standards - SUBSTATIONS


 All material shall comply with and be manufactured and tested in accordance with the latest editions of relevant publications of the international electrotechnical commission.

 Where no IEC publication has been issued to cover a particular subject then a recognized national standard shall be applied.

In case of the conflict between this specification and any of the IEC publications or national standards, then this specification shall take precedence.

 

Equipment provided under this specification shall conform to the applicable codes and standards of the following.

 

-         EUS: Electricity Utility Specification.

-         IEC – 60083 Ed.4 – plugs & socket outlet for domestic & similar

    general use standardized.

-         IEC 60155 Ed4 – Starter for fluorescent lamps.

-         IEC 60364-1 Ed4 – Electrical installation in building fundamental

    principles & definitions.

-         IEC 60598           - Luminaries (high-pressure Sodium)

-         IEC 60921 –        Ballast for tubular fluorescent lamps. Performance

requirements.

-         IEC 60432-2 Ed.2 – Incandescent lamp

-         IEC 60432-1 Ed.2 – Incandescent lamps

-         IEC 60081           - Double capped fluorescent lamp.

-         IEC 60947           -  Low voltage switchgear.

-         IEC 61048,61049 – Capacitor discharge lamp circuits.

-         IEC 60446           - Identification of conductors by colors.

-         IEC 60227           - Polyvinyl chloride insulated flexible cables and cords

with circular conductors and a rated voltage not exceeding 750V.


    Alternative codes and standards

 

The supplier may propose alternative codes and standards provided it is demonstrated that they give an equivalent degree of quality as the referenced codes and standards. Acceptability of any alternative code or standard is at the discretion of the Purchaser.

Precedence of Codes and Standards

 

In cases of the conflict between this specification and any of the referenced codes and standards, the following order of precedence shall apply:-     

            - This specification.

- EUS specification.

            - IEC recommendations.

            - Other referenced codes and standards.

            - Acceptance of alternative codes and standards.
