2-CARBON DIOXIDE FIRE EXTINGUISHING SYTEMS:
-carbon dioxide total flooding system shall be consists of a fixed supplay of carbon dioxide cylinders permantently connected to fixed piping, with fixed nozzles arranged to discharge carbon dioxide into an enclosed space of tranforms.
-systems shall be automatic and manual
-CYLINDERS
-carbon dioxide supplay shall be stored in rechargeable cylinders designed to hold carbon dioxide in liquid form at ambient temperatures.
- cylinders shall be used having a standard weight capacity of carbon dioxide contents all cylinder.
-each cylinder shall be provided with a pressure relief device of the rupture disc type. the pressure relief device shall be sized and fitted in accordance with the requirements specified in department of trasportation or aquivalant.
-cylinders shall be not be located where they will be exposed to a fire or explosion.
-suitable guards or enclosures shall be adequately mounted and suitably supported in a rack provided for the purpose , including facilites for convenient individual servicing and content weighting.
-DISTRIBUTION SYSTEMS:
-piping shall be of metallic noncombustible material having physical and chemical characterstics such that its detterioation under stress can be predicated with reliability.
-black or galvanized steel pipe shall be either ASTM A 53 seamless or electric welded, GRAD A or B or ASTM A 106,GRAD A ,B,or C.ASTM A 120.
-piping system shall be securely supported with due allowance for agent thrust forces and thermal expansion and contraction , and shall not be subjects to mechcanical, chemical,or other damage.wher explosions are possible , the piping system shall be hung from supports that are least likely to be displaced.
-pipe shall be reamed and cleand before nozzles or discharge devices are installed.
DISCHARGE NOZZLES
-discharge nozzles shall be suitable for the use intended and shall be listed or apprived for discharge characteristics . the discharge nozzle cosists of of the orifice and any associated horn , shiel, or baffle.
-discharge nozzles shall be of adequate strenght for use with the expected working pressures ,shall be able to resist norml mechanical abuse and shall be constructed to withstand expected temeratures without deformation.
-discharge orifices shall be of corrosion-resistant metal.
