POWER PLANT: FIRE FIGHTING MEANS

            

Specific maintenance equipment

    The Contractor shall supply all maintenance sets required for the fire detection apparatuses and particularly:

       -  detector exchangers to avoid the use of a ladder,

        - detectors testers to allow periodic performance check of the different fire detectors,

        - Any other testers and test methods recommended by Manufacturer.

  Cables

Cables used for fire detection system shall be fire-resistant according to IEC 331.

 FIRE FIGHTING MEANS

    As aforementioned, the fire fighting means will consist of automatic and manual systems.

-         Automatic systems are those in which as soon as a fire is detected, an automatic response is actuated without human intervention.

  However, automatic systems shall be designed in such a way that they can be manually actuated or manually disabled by specialized workers when required.

-         Manual systems are those in which a manual intervention is always required.

    Automatic systems shall be provided for the following installations in accordance with the COMPANY requirement (refer to clause 1.2):

       -  main control room:

       -  computers room:

      -   electrical rooms, i.e. switchgear rooms, MCC, local control rooms:

     -    cellars of above electrical rooms: (*),

        - cable galleries: automatic water spray fixed system.

        -  main and auxiliary transformers: water deluge,

        - fuel skid blocks:

        - gas turbine hot parts, i.e. hot bearing and combustion chamber(s) areas: CO2 system

         - crude-oil tanks floating roof sealing: foam

         - Warehouse: fuse plug water spray system or "sprinkler" type system

        - Steam Turbine, Heat Recovery units and associated equipment

 (*)NB: When there is no open communication with the bottom part of any switchboard, i.e. there is no open cable recess through the ceiling, the cellar of electrical or technical room may be considered as a cable gallery. In that case, the system will be replaced by a sprinkler system, principally if, in addition, the cellar is large.

    Manual systems shall be provided for the following:

        - crude-oil tanks over the floating roof: foam,

-         diesel-oil tanks and main sludge tank upper internal part: foam,

-         crude-oil, diesel-oil tanks, and main sludge tank shell external part: water deluge,

-         crude-oil, diesel-oil tanks, and main sludge tank dike areas: foam,

-         unloading area, metering, and fuel pumping stations: foam,

         - black start diesel gen. set: foam,

        - all other areas, outdoor and indoor: water hydrants, foam hydrants, hose reels, portable extinguishers.

       -  Etc.----
